A great weekend, and a new week

So this weekend was LONG. I worked 9-5 Friday and Saturday and then had to close last night. But it could be worse, I could hate my job. Saturday was really nice though. Little man spent the night with my in-laws so that hubby and I could have a date night. Shopping, dinner, and the new Harry Potter. SO much fun. It's been forever (at least it feels that way) since I went through all the feminine rituals of getting ready for a date. Even the times that we've had someone watch Little Man so we could go out, it was usually pretty low key, and certainly no primping was involved. But it was nice, to change that. And I REALLY enjoyed the movie. I've always loved the Harry Potter movies, but really, it seems that each one is better than the one before it.
I spent most of today digging my way out of laundry. Working 5 days straight, and running errands, and having dates when I wasn't working, put me extremely behind. But I'm just about all caught up now. All that's left is folding the towels that are currently fluffing in the dryer after drying on the line and then ironing hubby's work clothes after the munchkin goes to sleep tonight. He still stays to hyper for me to feel comfortable having a hot iron with him running underfoot.
We had a potty training debacle early this morning. The best I can piece together, since I didn't witness the event, is that he tried to make it to the potty and didn't get there in time, and then tried to clean up the mess by himself, resulting in an even bigger mess for me to clean, and an early morning bath for him. Fun times. But I couldn't bring myself to get frustrated, he had tried so hard, and was quite proud of himself for trying. Perhaps we'll have better luck next time.
Then while he napped, I got some work done on the bedspread and watched He's Just Not That Into You. I thought it was a pretty cute movie, nothing spectacular, but cute. And with all that being said, it's time for me to start getting ready for dinner; fried chicken, rice, mac and cheese, and fries - it's so much fun having a family where everyone prefers different side dishes. Lol.

Finally, some days off

So I finally got a few days off work. I shouldn't say that. It's really not like I work all the time. There are just some days it feels like it. I'm still waiting to find out how the visit from TJ goes. He had to reschedule to come to the store tomorrow instead of today. But we'll see I suppose.
Grandpa had his appointment with the doctors on Friday. They did a CT scan and found that the lung they did the biopsy on was half collapsed. I got so angry. He called the DR that did the biopsy the day after to complain of serious shortness of breath (had to sit on a chair to brush his teeth, because he couldn't keep his breath standing up that long kind of serious). They just sent a script to the pharmacy for him. Never asked him to come in just to be safe. So he's been sitting there with a half collapsed lung for the past two weeks, roughly. But he went in this morning to have it inflated so that should be fine now. And he got the prescription for the medicine to treat the cancer; they're just waiting to find out if TriCare will cover it or not.
Things at home have been busy as always. Cleaning and cooking and potty training. It's enough to wear a woman out in all the best ways possible. I got an exciting phone call from the church today. We've got another praise night coming up next month (very exciting in it's own right; I LOVE our praise nights), but Pastor P remembered that I played the flute, so they're going to work me in for some of the songs. I'm terribly excited. It's been years since I've been able to play, and can't wait to be a part of this. *Thank you so much Pastor P for giving me this chance!*
I'm still busy working on my bedspread. It's slow going, but it's important to me to keep the stitches small and tightly done for this one. I have work in progress photos to share, but I'm working on the laptop tonight, and the pictures are saved to the desk top comp, so that'll have to wait. I do hope to get back to work on some stock soon, and I'll keep you all posted on that. But that's about it for now. I have another full day tomorrow, so I better get off the computer and get some rest. Good night all!

Sitting at home.

Sitting at my computer desk at home. It feels so good to have my own home again. And all my things. Hubby has started his new job, and we're starting to settle in to a routine again. I've pulled out my big notebook (courtesy of FlyLady), and started blessing my home and my family every day. What can I say, I'm a creature of habit, and nothing is more comforting to me than routine.
This morning has been full of chores, making breakfast and now lunch for my little man, and, most recently, hanging a load of laundry on the clothes line. It makes me so happy to have a clothes line, at last. I've wanted one for so long. To my mind, there's nothing quite like line dried clothes (or sheets especially), and I love being able to do something so simple to save my family money, and save energy that the dryer would otherwise be using.
But with all that, today is my last day off this week, and I'm looking to relax and enjoy it some too. As soon as little man goes down for his nap, I plan on doing some work on my new bedspread. It's such a large project that it's slow going. And I plan on getting back to work on some new stock here soon. I'm going to keep working on the bathroom items, and hope to try out some new patterns for that line as well. I'm also busy planning other items I can make for my new house as well; more bedspreads, tablecloths, placemats, rugs, the list goes on and on.

I'm hoping I'll luck up and get to watch some more True Blood here soon. I've gotten sucked into the show since I rented the first two discs of season 1 from work. But now I've watched both of those, and am trying to get my hands on disc 3 to see what happens next. Unfortunately, we only received one copy of each disc, and it's difficult to get your hands on one. Oh well, we have our movies to watch in the meantime.

Little man has been doing very well with potty training. I've been using my trusty kitchen timer (courtesy of FlyLady again), and we've made it up to going every 35 minutes. Yeah! He still struggles with telling me that he has to go, I have to stay on top of it, but he'll get there.

So that's pretty much been the past couple of days around here. Now it's time for me to do some pattern research while the munchkin finishes his lunch. And then settle in to relax while he naps.

Ahhh

So we've gotten into the new house, and our household goods have been delivered. It looks like the movers managed to do only a small amount of damage so far. Thank goodness for that. I still have my shop on vacation mode, but hope to put the final touches on the home office in the next couple of days, and then I'll be up and running again.
Unfortunately, we also received some bad news lately. My grandfather has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Many of you closest to me already know this, and have already started praying for his healing, and I thank you all for that. It's still early yet, and we aren't sure what stage the cancer is in until he's able to meet with the oncologist, but I trust that the Lord will take care of this amazing man that has been the only earthly father I've ever known. There's not much more than that for right now, but I'll be able to start posting regularly again now, so be looking for more to come.
